On our way to LOCK UP!!

So with our roof now complete and plumbing done it's time for the grey float to go on. After day three they have the kitchen, theatre room, study, laundry, powder room, entry hallway and two bedrooms left to do. Our SS said that the ceilings have been booked to go in next week!! Once that's finished it's then time for lock up!! Handover though is now looking more likely to happen in March '13 with more tradies than expected taking time off for the Xmas break. Behind the scenes we have been working on our landscape plan, getting quotes for window treatments and shopping for furniture. Fun fun fun :D

Brickwork finished, now on with the roof!

Well our awesome brickies finished yesterday, sooner than expected too! Caught our equally awesome SS on site this morning and had to let him know how happy we were with them. They were the hardest working tradies I've ever seen, there from the crack of dawn until late afternoon with a 2 hour round trip thrown in too. They were friendly, cleaned up after themselves - did not leave behind a single crumb - and their workmanship looks to be perfect. If you guys are reading this, THANK YOU!!

So today I also saw that the walls have been chased for the power points and light switches. Our SS said he has organised for the render at the front to be done tomorrow and the roofies are scheduled to start on Friday. In 2 weeks time our roof will be on!! Stoked!! Can't wait to see how all our external colours turn out.

The brickwork photos have all been uploaded now, enjoy :)

Bricks!

So Monday saw the delivery of our bricks and the start of the brick laying!! It was so surreal seeing the first wall built today after visiting the block with no change for so long.

Our site supervisor says that brickwork will be done by the end of October and the roof will be on by mid-November!! At this rate we could get our keys by February 2013 *happy dance*

Photos from today have been uploaded to the Brickwork album.

We have a slab!!!

Our slab was poured this morning after the footings were done yesterday. We are very happy to be one day ahead of schedule already!!

Please head over to the 'Slab' album to view the photos from yesterday and today. I am hoping to get some better photos tomorrow.

Next on the list is delivery of site shed and toilet some time this week, drains on Monday 17/09 then power and water to slab on Tuesday 18/09. Doors and window frames are also to be delivered on Tuesday 18/09.

Yippee :D

Siteworks Update

We are heading into our fifth and final week of siteworks so I thought it was time to share some photos of our progress. In the siteworks photo album I have included photos of the rock breaker at work, the sand pad for the man shed, our beautiful retaining wall and lots and lots of sand!

We are very happy with the progress so far, looking forward to slab down next month!

How it all began

Three years after building our first 'dream home' in the wrong location, we are doing it all over again but this time up in the Perth hills.

We committed to buying our block of land after falling in love with the area 12 months prior. We didn't want to rush into making a decision (like we did last time) so we did as much research as possible and spoke to people we knew in the area before signing.

Now that the land is ours, we visit at least once a week even though we are a long way off from starting construction. The kids love to play at the park and we often have a picnic in the undercover BBQ area.

For the past few weeks we have been going back and forth with changes to the house plans of "Bletchley Park" by Plunkett Homes. The rep has been great so far, no complaints at all. We plan to sign up soon, just want to nut out all the changes first to get a fairly accurate indication of the final price to build the home. There is a link to the draft plans on the right panel if you are interested in having a look.

We are very excited about our building new home but a little apprehensive about the length of time it will take to build and the number of hoops we will be required to jump through. We are certain that all the ups and downs will definitely be worth it in the end!
